How to play Day of Meat: Radiation?

When you click on an upgrade at the bottom of click on an upgrade at the bottom of your screen, it'll tell you whether you have enough funds to research it. If it's green, you can do it right now; if not, save some more so that when you do click on it, it'll be red instead of red.
